FULL SPECTRUM EXTRACTS
Full-Spectrum Herbal Extracts:
Greater Biological Activity and Safety
All plants have a complex molecular structure made up of numerous active compounds and a host of other phytochemicals that serve as buffering, stabilizing, or modifying agents, and perhaps even key active constituents that have yet to be identified. Much remains to be understood in terms of the complex interactions and synergy that naturally occurs between plant compounds. Isolating single plant constituents disrupts the intelligence of the plant’s chemistry, while utilization of the whole plant, with its full spectrum of plant constituents, has repeatedly been shown to impart greater biological activity and safety.
NewMark™ respects both the wisdom of nature and the advancement of science. All of our herbal extracts are Potency Assured™ to contain at least the promised levels of key marker compounds stated on the label. We do this while attempting to preserve the natural complexity and synergy that occurs when the full spectrum of compounds are present in the whole herb. To maximize the potency and efficacy of our products, we select herbs that have undergone optimal cultivation, harvesting, preservation, and storage methods.
Superior Extraction Methods: Superior Clinical Results
NewMark employs multiple advanced extraction processes specific to the dissolution of each individual herb’s pharmacologically active constituents. We utilize the innovation of supercritical herbal extractions. While not every herb is suitable for supercritical extraction, plants that have significant quantities of lipophilic (fat soluble) compounds are excellent candidates. Traditionally, lipophilic compounds have been difficult to extract without the use of harsh solvents and manufacturing procedures that may alter the plant’s fragile constituents, leave chemical residue, and threaten the environment.
Rather than use harsh chemical solvents, NewMark utilizes compressed carbon dioxide (CO2) warmed to its superfluid or “supercritical” state. CO2 superfluid is able to deeply penetrate plant material, gently dissolving and extracting herbal constituents. After extraction is complete, the pressure is carefully released and CO2 gas harmlessly dissipates into the atmosphere, leaving behind a very pure, concentrated extract that more closely resembles the natural structure of constituents in the whole plant. For many herbs, the extraction does not stop here. Along with supercritical extraction, a hydroethanolic extract is added to ensure optimal delivery of the full spectrum of both the hydrophilicand lipophilic plant constituents.
